​World Teachers' Day is Saturday, October 5, 2019 – an opportunity to express our awareness, understanding and appreciation for the vital contribution teachers make to education and development.

Peace Wapiti Public School Division (PWPSD) joins with more than 100 countries around the world in celebrating World Teachers' Day. PWPSD employs the full-time equivalent of 375 teachers who make a difference in the lives of 6,000 students in our 36 schools. 

The Canadian Teachers' Federation website provides the history of World Teachers' Day. In 1994, UNESCO inaugurated October 5 as World Teachers' Day to commemorate the joint UNESCO and International Labour Organization's (ILO) signing of the Recommendations Concerning the Status of Teachers.
