Sexsmith Secondary School, built in 1954 and fully modernized in 1991, has an enrollment of 417 students in grades 7 - 12 (262 high school students and 155 junior high students). Our student-centered school with 26 teachers offers a wide range of academic and practical courses. Junior high school students come from the communities of Sexsmith and Teepee Creek and the surrounding rural area. Students from Teepee Creek travel to Sexsmith for grade 9 while students from LaGlace come in grade 10.
In junior high school, students choose from a regular program of core subjects or an alternate program called Knowledge and Employability. The weekly timetable includes Language Arts, Math, Social Studies, Science, Phys. Ed. and Health. Students also choose from a variety of ten-week electives.
Senior high students have access to all core subjects and a vast array of electives including: Career and Technology Studies, Fine Arts, French and Physical Education. A wide range of off-campus programs are also available.
Sexsmith Secondary extracurricular program includes: volleyball, football, basketball, badminton, cross country running, track, ISCF, travel clubs, and curling. Each program is headed by a staff member who volunteers their time.
