School Profile

Elmworth is a farming community approximately 65 kilometres south west of Grande Prairie. Elmworth School operated by the Peace Wapiti School Division provides instruction for about 70 students from K to 9. We run a compressed school week resulting in an organization base of nine school days per two week block rather than the five school days per one week block.

The school also offers special programs that include speech pathology services, counselling, early literacy intervention, and a complete swimming program for the elementary students. Students also participate in extra curricular events that include: sports(volleyball, basketball, badminton, track); elementary and junior high intramurals;students union and many cultural events. There is an outdoor skating rink and a neighbouring curling rink that the students are able to use.

An active parent group was responsible for many long hours and hard work which resulted in a new playground facility for all to enjoy. Many parents attend and become involved with the Parent School Council.

GREAT REASONS TO CHOOSE ELMWORTH SCHOOL YOUR FAMILIES' CHOICE

Elmworth School provides a safe environment in which students are given the opportunity to reach their academic potential.

Elmworth enjoys small class sizes. The focus is on academics and expectations are high. Because of small classes, students are able to get extra attention and help.

We are a community school whereas parents and community members utilize the building and grounds offering after school programs as well as family activities.

Our athletic program is complete with activities focusing on volleyball, basketball, curling, badminton, and track & field. We have an excellent swimming program for 1-6 students. The Jr. High enjoy a yearly ski trip to Nitehawk to take lessons and practice what they have learned. Elmworth also has a community skating and curling rink!

Our Jr. High Option classes include fashion, foods, woods and computer design at the Beaverlodge Regional High School. The Elementary students enjoy Art, Music, Swimming and Computer class.

Some of our special events include the annual  Missoula Theater, Play Day, Junior High Prom & Dance, and numerous guest speakers throughout the year.

Special Programs include E.C.S., Earl Intervention, Counseling, Special Education, Physiotherapy Occupational Therapy and Speech Therapy. We have a playschool program run by F.C.S.S. Also, the Parent Council offers lunch sales on most Fridays.  We do fund raise throughout the year for the school and community.
