May 04, 2020

Peace Wapiti Public School Division (PWPSD) is sharing the following statement from Education Minister Adriana LaGrange, as posted on Facebook on Friday, May 1, 2020.

"With the following updated message from Alberta Education, we can now plan for the remainder of the current school year," says PWPSD Superintendent Bob Stewart. "This unprecedented situation has created challenges for us all. I encourage our staff, families and students to stay the course, and continue to follow the recommendations from Alberta Health Services regarding social distancing and hygiene practices."

PWPSD will share the re-entry plan for schools once it is announced by the Ministry of Education.

Yesterday we announced that in-person classes will remain cancelled for the remainder of the school year. This decision was made to ensure the safety and well-being of our teachers, staff and students. Parents can be assured that their children will continue to receive teacher-directed at-home learning for the remainder of the 2019-20 school year.

Alberta has a comprehensive continuity of learning plan that many other provinces have looked to as they developed their own. Students will continue to learn for the remainder of this school year. More information on our plan is available at https://www.alberta.ca/student-learning-during-covid-19.aspx.
