​Grande Prairie, AB – With the indefinite cancellation of classes, and in light of the information provided during the recently televised announcement by Premier Kenney on April 7, 2020 regarding the projected peak of the COVID-19 outbreak in Alberta, all high school graduation ceremonies planned for May and June throughout Peace Wapiti Public School Division (PWPSD) have been postponed until late August or early September, pending further public health announcements, and future consultations with individual school communities.

PWPSD high schools reached out to graduates’ families earlier this afternoon with the news.

During this unprecedented time in world history, we are having to set aside plans for the present time, to ensure that we are able to pick them back up again in the near future. In taking this difficult step to postpone graduation, we are all doing our part to help ensure that we will be able to come back together again at a later date.

Pending further public health announcements, high school administration will be in touch with graduates and their families near the end of June to determine how best to move forward with celebrating graduation.
