PWPSD schools to host Terry Fox Run events

September 11, 2019

Peace Wapiti Public Schools will honour the 39th anniversary of the Terry Fox Run through fundraising campaigns and school run events. Local media are welcome to attend the following events – please RSVP to angelasears@pwpsd.ca

Beaverlodge Elementary SchoolThurs., Sept. 26, 2:00 p.m.Students and staff will gather in the gym for a pep rally and video of Terry's journey, followed by a 5 km run through Beaverlodge. The school expects that a large number of volunteers and parents will participate.
Beaverlodge Regional High SchoolThurs., Sept. 26, 10:30 a.m.All students will gather in the gym for a presentation, followed by a run/walk through the town of Beaverlodge and a school-wide barbecue.
Bezanson SchoolAfternoon of Fri., Oct. 4A run through Bezanson.
Clairmont Community SchoolFri., Sept. 20, 1:00 - 3:00 p.m.Students and staff will run a 1 km loop around the Clairmont Reservoir as many times as they can within an hour.
Eaglesham SchoolThurs., Sept. 26, 2:00  - 3:18 p.m.A run around the community.
Elmworth SchoolThurs., Sept. 26A 5 km run/walk for students, staff and the community, followed by a barbecue for the school and community.
Harry Balfour SchoolThurs., Sept. 26,  10:45 a.m.A walk/run around the Bear Creek Reservoir.
La Glace SchoolWed., Sept. 25, 12:30 p.m.The Leadership class will share a slideshow and short video on the legacy of Terry Fox, followed by a walk/run around La Glace for all students, staff and volunteers. Students will be rewarded with a Pajama Day if the $4,000 goal is met.
Penson SchoolThurs., Sept. 26,  2:35 p.m.Students, staff, parents and volunteers will run/walk around Grovedale.
Robert W. Zahara Public SchoolFri., Sept. 27, 10:00 a.m.Run through Sexsmith. Parents and community members are welcome to participate.
Rycroft SchoolThurs., Oct. 3, 2:00 p.m.A "Hot Dogs for Hope" barbecue and walk around Rycroft.
Savanna SchoolThurs., Sept. 12, 2:00 p.m.1, 3 and 5 km walk/run options along a marked course, starting and ending at the school. The community is welcome to participate.
Spirit River Regional AcademyTues., Sept. 24, 11:00 a.m.The local Emergeny Medical Services and the Fire Department have been invited to attend the walk/run through the community. Rain date: Wed., Sept. 25
Teepee Creek SchoolThurs., Sept. 26, 2:00 p.m.Parents and community members are welcome to join students and staff in a 1 km or 3 km walk/run that will start and end at the school.
Wembley Elementary SchoolThurs., Sept. 26, 2:30 p.m.A walk around Wembley.
Whispering Ridge Community SchoolTues., Sept. 24, 2:00 p.m.A walk/run for all grades through the surrounding community and around a pond. Families are invited to participate.
