School bus drivers arriving at schools in Peace Wapiti Public School Division (PWPSD) on Monday morning will receive a School Bus Driver Appreciation Day gift – a small token of appreciation, presented by Principals.
The first Monday in May is set aside annually as School Bus Driver Appreciation Day. PWPSD students, parents, staff and the Board recognize the important function that school bus drivers serve in safely transporting children to and from school.
After completing their morning runs on Monday, May 6, PWPSD drivers will be invited to a School Bus Driver Appreciation Day breakfast at PWPSD's Transportation Shop, located next to Central Office in Grande Prairie.
PWPSD manages one of the largest transportation system in the province of Alberta. Each day, more than 100 school bus drivers travel more than 14,225 kilometres in a total service area of 16,159 square kilometres, transporting more than 4,000 students to 29 schools in three school districts.
Thank you to all PWPSD bus drivers for your dedication, patience and commitment to safety.
