Kindness is the focus of Pink Shirt Day 2019. In addition to wearing pink on February 27, many PWPSD schools are hosting events to raise awareness and show their commitment to creating welcoming, caring, respectful and safe learning environments.
Pink Shirt Day website asks social media users to "THINK before you post"
It often takes more time and effort to say something mean than it does to say something nice. Kindness requires no manipulation, no focusing on the negatives, and no filtering of yourself. For social media users, remember to THINK before you post – ask yourself, is this True, Helpful, Inspiring, Necessary and Kind? If you are being cyberbullied, remember to stop, block, talk and save. Don't try to talk to or reason with the cyberbully. Instead, block the sender, tell a trusted adult, and save or capture messages, images or comments that have been posted online. | Eaglesham School | All are encouraged to wear pink. Class and group discussions on the significance of wearing pink. |
| Elmworth School | Staff and students are encouraged to wear pink. |
| Harry Balfour School | Staff and students are encouraged to wear pink and participate in a buddy lunch. |
| Hythe Regional School | Students will write anti-bullying messages on paper pink T-shirts, for display around the school. |
| LaGlace School | WE club members will promote positivity by creating paper pink shirts with positive messages, posting kind words on a kindness board, selling pink ribbons, and sharing school-based acts of kindness on a bulletin board. The class with the most students wearing pink shirts will receive a prize. |
| Penson School | Classroom discussions on kindness. The school is displaying posters that focus on kindness. |
| Robert W. Zahara Public School | Student-led assembly at 10:45 a.m. The event will focus on kindness. |
| Savanna School | All students and staff are encouraged to wear pink. Saddle Hills County has supplied Pink Shirt Day bracelets for everyone. The front bulletin board will offer resources and pink Post-It notes for students and staff to record acts of kindness they have received or done for others. |
| Sexsmith Secondary School | Students and staff are encouraged to wear pink shirts. Class discussions on related topics leading up to Pink Shirt Day will educate and inspire students. |
| Wembley Elementary School | Staff and students are encouraged to wear pink. Classroom discussions and a school-wide assembly will focus on the significance of the day. It will also be an informal Random Acts of Kindness Day. |
| Whispering Ridge Community School | Staff and students are encouraged to wear pink shirts. Sea of Pink Sock Hops will be held during the day for Kindergartens, Grades 1-4 and Grades 5-8. A Post-it Pink activity will see students and staff record acts of kindness on pink Post-It notes to fill a wall in the school's foyer. |
| Woking School | Students will receive pink shirts bearing the school's event theme, "Be a Buddy, Not a Bully." Friendship and inclusion will be the focus of a friendship picnic for all students. |
