Odour detected at WRCS after school day had ended
Tuesday, February 12, 2019, 4:30 p.m. – At approximately 3:50 p.m. today, an odour, thought to be natural gas, was detected by staff at Whispering Ridge Community School. The odour was detected after the school day had ended and students had left for the day. As a safety precaution, ATCO requested that staff and any remaining students evacuate the building. ATCO is currently assessing the school. We are awaiting an update from ATCO.
What is an evacuation?
- A response to a possible danger INSIDE the school.
- Staff will escort students to a safe area, away from the school.
- If necessary, students will be transported to the school's predetermined safe location.
- Examples: Strong odours, fire, chemical spill, gas leak, etc.
