School bus drivers arriving at schools in Peace Wapiti Public School Division (PWSD) on Monday morning will receive a School Bus Driver Appreciation Day gift – a small token of appreciation presented by Principals.
The first Monday in May is set aside annually as School Bus Driver Appreciation Day. PWSD students, parents, staff and the Board recognize the important function that school bus drivers serve in safely transporting children to and from school.
After completing their morning runs on Monday, May 7, PWSD drivers will be invited to a School Bus Driver Appreciation Day breakfast at PWSD's Transportation Shop, located next to Central Office in Grande Prairie.
PWSD manages the third largest transportation system in the province of Alberta. Each day, 103 school bus drivers travel more than 14,225 kilometres in a total service area of 16,159 square kilometres, transporting more than 4,000 students to 29 schools in three school districts.
Thank you to all PWSD bus drivers for your dedication, patience and commitment to safety.
