PWSD, in partnership with the Northern Spirit Alberta Teachers Association (ATA) Local No. 6, offers a valuable mentorship program aimed at welcoming and supporting new teachers. The program pairs protégé (first-year) teachers with experienced teachers for two full days of workshops annually in October and February. Pairs may also meet to work together on two additional days throughout the school year.
The first full-day workshop took place today, Wednesday, October 11, 2017 at PWSD Central Office. Following the welcome and introductions, Monique Gravel, Executive Staff Officer for ATA Region A and member of PWSD’s Mentorship Steering Committee, worked with mentors. PWSD teacher and Mentorship Program Coordinator Adele Lowen conducted a separate session with protégés. During the afternoon, the groups came together for an overview of PWSD’s Collaborative Response Model (CRM). The above photo was captured during the final session of the day, when Ms. Lowen (standing) facilitated partner teachers as they worked together on various topics, including goal setting using Mentorship Action Plans.
