PWSD schools to host Terry Fox Run events

September 13, 2017

Peace Wapiti Public Schools will honour the 37th anniversary of the Terry Fox Run through fundraising campaigns and school run events. Local media are welcome to attend the following events – please RSVP to angelasears@pwsd76.ab.ca.

Students will run a loop around Muskoseepi Park, followed by a lunch-hour corn roast. In keeping with Terry Fox's challenge to all Canadians, the school's 505 students were asked to donate at least one dollar. The top fundraiser will receive a prize.
Thursday, Sept. 21, 9:45 a.m.R. W. Zahara Public School, SexsmithThe school will host a Meet the Teacher event prior to a run on nearby trails. Parents may join the run.
Thursday, Sept. 21, 10:00 a.m.Spirit River Regional AcademyStudents will run around the town of Spirit River.
Thursday, Sept. 21, 1:30 p.m. - 3:15 p.m.Eaglesham SchoolStarting at the school and running through Eaglesham.
Thursday, Sept. 21, 2:00 p.m.Beaverlodge Elem. SchoolStarting at the school and running through Beaverlodge.
Wednesday, Sept. 27, 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.Harry Balfour School and Whispering Ridge Community School, Grande PrairieClasses will run a loop around Muskoseepi Reservoir. The two schools are conducting separate campaigns to see which group can raise the most funds.
Thursday, Sept. 28, assembly at 1:35 p.m., run event at 2:00 p.m.Penson School, GrovedaleA run through East Grove Estates. If $1,500 is raised, students will tape teachers to a wall; at $2,000, students will choose teachers' outfits for a day; at $2,500, the Principal will kiss a pig.
Thursday, Sept. 28, 2:35 p.m. - 3:35 p.m.Bonanza SchoolGrades 5-8 will run approximately one mile; Kindergarten - Grade 4 will run a shorter route.
Friday, Sept. 29, 10:00 - 11:30 a.m.Elmworth SchoolStudents will run along Hwy. 722, followed by a barbecue lunch hosted by Cenovus Energy.
Friday, Sept. 29, 12:30 p.m.LaGlace SchoolStarting at the school and running through LaGlace.
Friday, Sept. 29, 1:00 p.m.Bezanson SchoolStudents will run through Bezanson. Goal: $1,200.
Friday, Sept. 29, 1:00 p.m.Clairmont Community SchoolStudents completing the most laps around Clairmont Reservoir loop can enter to win a Terry Fox T-shirt or to act as Principal or Assistant Principal for a day. Smoothie party will be awarded to the top fundraising class.
Friday, Sept. 29, 1:35 p.m. - 3:20 p.m.Teepee Creek SchoolLoop starting at the school and turning at Sorkenville.
Friday, Sept. 29, 2:30 p.m.Wembley Elementary SchoolStudents will run around Wembley and may dress as their hero for the day.
Thursday, Oct. 5, 2:15 p.m.Rycroft SchoolHot dogs for Hope fundraiser lunch, followed by a run through Rycroft. Families welcome.
