Natural Gas Outage Update #4

ATCO representatives will continue working quickly and safely throughout the night going door-to-door to relight natural gas appliances in households located in the residential subdivisions of Brookside, Meadow Brook, Aspen Ridge, Sunnybrook, Eastland Acres, Triple L Trailer Court, Autumn Wood, Arthur Lane and Sunridge Estates.

Customers are urged to contact the 24-hour ATCO Emergency Dispatch call centre at 1-800-511-3447 if the pipes in their homes are freezing and immediate attention is required. Residents can also contact Dispatch to confirm access arrangements if they do not want to wait in their homes until ATCO personnel arrive.

Residents waiting in their homes until ATCO representatives arrive to relight natural gas appliances are advised to follow the simple steps below to ensure maximum safety:

• If using a fireplace to keep your home warm, ensure inside and outside vents are clear of debris, snow and ice for proper ventilation.

• If you are using a wood burning fireplace or stove to heat your home, crack a window to ensure your home is properly ventilated and to prevent carbon monoxide related incidences

• Do not use a BBQ or gas-fuelled space heaters to heat your home

• Do not take shelter to keep warm in an idling vehicle for extended periods

The warming centre at Evergreen Park ENTREC Centre will remain open until 12 a.m. Tuesday, February 7 for residents impacted by the outage. Pets are welcome. GPREP advises residents who are accessing the warming centre to bring basic necessities. Residents needing a warm place to stay after 12 a.m. are advised to contact GPREP Emergency Social Services at 780-296-4172.

Natural Gas Outage Update #3

 

ATCO has mobilized the compressed natural gas trailers and are now going door-to-door to restore natural gas to households in the residential subdivisions of Brookside, Meadow Brook, Aspen Ridge, Sunnybrook, Eastland Acres, Triple L Trailer Court, Autumn Wood, Arthur Lane and Sunridge Estates.

If customers do not want to wait in their homes due to the cold, please contact the call center to confirm access arrangements at 780-310-5678. Calls after 7 p.m. can be made to ATCO Emergency Dispatch at 1-800-511-3447. ATCO is working quickly and safely to restore natural gas in the affected homes and will be working through the night. Please be advised that it may take several hours for an ATCO representative to get to your home.

Areas affected by natural gas outage
ATCO continues to work at mobilizing compressed natural gas trailers in order to supply natural gas to customers during the outage.

The outage was caused by a farm tap unit fire on Highway 670 and Range Road 52 earlier today. The fire has been extinguished.

The following residential subdivisions of Brookside, Meadow Brook, Aspen Ridge, Sunnybrook, Eastland Acres, Triple L Trailer Court, Autumn Wood, Arthur Lane and Sunridge Estates are affected by the outage.

Once natural gas is flowing, ATCO crews will be going door-to-door to assist with relighting natural gas appliances. If customers do not want to wait in their homes due to the cold, please contact the call center to confirm access arrangements and provide a call ahead to 780-310-5678. Calls after 7 p.m. can be made to ATCO Emergency Dispatch at 1-800-511-3447.

GPREP Activated in Response to Farm Tap Unit Fire
The Grande Prairie Regional Emergency Partnership (GPREP) has been activated in response to a farm tap unit on fire on Highway 670 and Range Road 52. 

Fire crews arrived at the scene at 7 a.m. and have extinguished the fire, but remain on scene.

Over 300 households in the area are currently without gas as a result of the farm tap unit fire. ATCO is mobilizing compressed natural gas trailers in order to supply natural gas to customers during the outage.  Once natural gas is flowing, ATCO crews will be going door-to-door to assist with relighting natural gas appliances. If customers have questions, please call ATCO’s Customer Assistance Centre at 780-310-5678.

A warming centre has been set up at Evergreen Park for residents impacted by the outage. The warming centre will accept pets. GPREP advises residents who are accessing the warming

centre to bring to bring basic necessities in the event they have to be out of their homes for an extended period. 
As a precaution, we ask that residents stay out of the area to allow the emergency crews to complete their work. Further updates will be provided as they become available.
