The Hold and Secure has been officially lifted.

Grande Prairie, December 2, 2016, 3:30 p.m. – Students and staff at Peace Wapiti Academy and Harry Balfour School are currently under a Hold and Secure while the RCMP assess a situation in the area. Students and staff are safe inside the school. As a precautionary measure, staff will await further direction from the RCMP on the status of the issue prior to permitting entry to, or exit from, the two schools.

Hold and Secure is a response to a threat and or incident in the general vicinity of a school, but not related to the school. School life continues as normal inside the school, however, the precautionary measure to lock school doors is taken to ensure staff and students are safe, and to reduce activity while law enforcement officials conduct their work.
