PWSD schools remember

Peace Wapiti Public Schools will observe Remembrance Day at school-based ceremonies on Thursday, November 10. In honour of Remembrance Day, all PWSD schools and offices will be closed on Friday, November 11, 2016.

Beaverlodge Regional High School10:35 a.m.Annual Remembrance Day assembly in the gymnasium, featuring poetry readings, short story readings and a video presentation.
UPDATE: BRHS will join with students of St. Marys Catholic School for a 'Night in the Trenches' event.
Bezanson School10:45 a.m.Remembrance Day assembly in the gymnasium, featuring singing, poetry, and a presentation of wartime pictures. Parents, community and Legion members are invited to attend.
Bonanza School2:35 p.m.Annual Remembrance Day assembly in the gymnasium. All are welcome.
Clairmont Community School10:30 a.m.Annual Remembrance Day assembly in the gymnasium, featuring songs, poetry readings and a video presentation. Parents and community members are welcome to attend.
Eaglesham SchoolAfter school and throughout the night. Annual Night in the Trenches event. Eaglesham students will dig trenches after school on November 10 and occupy them all night. The following morning, students will conduct the community Remembrance Day ceremony at 10:30 a.m. at Eaglesham Hall.
Elmworth School10:45 a.m.Annual Remembrance Day assembly in gymnasium, featuring songs by elementary students, and poetry and a video presentation by junior high students. The school will honour two special guests from the Beaverlodge Legion, Branch 121: Comrade Olaf Hegland, WWII veteran, Palm Leaf recipient, and former President of Branch 121; and Comrade Len Mainville, Sergeant-at-Arms of Branch 121 and 36-year military veteran. Community members are welcome to attend.

Annual Remembrance Day assemblies in the gymnasium with special guest Gerald Cooke performing Taps. Family and community members are invited to attend.
Helen E. Taylor School 1:15 p.m.The annual H.E.T. Remembrance Day assembly will feature music, singing and poetry recitals by students, and honour two special guests from the Beaverlodge Legion, Branch 121: Comrade Olaf Hegland, WWII veteran, Palm Leaf recipient, and former President of Branch 121; and Comrade Len Mainville, Sergeant-at-Arms of Branch 121 and 36-year military veteran.
Hythe Regional School12:40 p.m.Annual Remembrance Day assembly in the gymnasium with special guests from the Legion, featuring a class poetry recital, stories honouring veterans, songs from the H.R.S. choir, and a moment of silence. All are welcome to attend. 
LaGlace School10:00 a.m.Remembrance Day assembly in the gymnasium.
Peace Wapiti Academy10.30 a.m.Remembrance Day ceremony in the gymnasium.
Penson School10:30 a.m.Remembrance Day ceremony in the gymnasium. Local Girl Guides and Brownies will be involved in the event and responsible for laying the wreath. Students will present original poems and essays, and there will be music and a video presentation.
Ridgevalley SchoolCeremony at 10:50 a.m. Night in the Trenches event participants will meet at the school at 4:00 p.m.DeBolt and Valleyview Legion and community members are invited to attend the school's Remembrance Day ceremony at 10:50 a.m., featuring a video presentation, two minutes of silence, and opportunities for Legion and Ranger guests to speak. Night in the Trenches event participants will meet at the school at 4:00 p.m. where they will be divided into companies and march to the trench site north of the school to reenact the battle at Courcelette/Ancre Heights, November 10, 1916. Robert W. Zahara Public School10:45 a.m.Annual Remembrance Day observance in the gymnasium. Everyone is welcome to attend.
Rycroft School10:45 a.m. Annual Remembrance Day assembly, followed by a lunch for guests in the school library. Local veterans, Legion District Commander and Legion members have been invited. Parents and community members are welcome to attend.
Savanna School10:30 a.m.Remembrance Day ceremony in the gymnasium. Parents, guardians and community members are invited to attend.
Sexsmith Secondary School11:00 a.m.The school will host a digital ceremony. Students will remain in their classrooms and share in digital Remembrance Day content, including audio and video.
Spirit River Regional Academy10:30 a.m.Parents and community members are welcome to attend the ceremony in the SRRA gymnasium.
Teepee Creek School10:45 a.m.Assembly in the gymnasium.
Wembley Elementary School2:40 p.m.Annual Remembrance Day assembly in the gymnasium. Community members are welcome to attend.
