UPDATE: Due to deteriorating road conditions, the school grand opening events planned for Friday, October 14, at Robert W. Zahara Public School in Sexsmith and Teepee Creek School, have been CANCELLED. An announcement will be sent out when the events have been rescheduled.
Peace Wapiti Public School Division (PWSD) will celebrate two school grand opening events on Friday, October 14, 2016. Families, community members, and local media are invited to attend the following events.

ABOUT THE SCHOOL

Robert W. Zahara (R.W.Z.) Public School is located in the town of Sexsmith. The Kindergarten - Grade 6 school serves 415 students and provides educational services to an equal mixture of rural and urban students. The school is staffed by 24 teachers and a large support team of 24 teaching assistants, librarians, administrative assistants, and speech assistants. The original R.W.Z. Public School was erected in 1978-1979. The replacement school, which opened following the 2016 spring break, is designed to accommodate 550 students and features a bright foyer and spacious classrooms with enhanced instructional features. The learning commons boasts a curved wall of floor-to-ceiling windows, creating an attractive, naturally-lit space for reading and learning activities. Other special features include an oversize gymnasium, dedicated speech therapy and occupational therapy rooms, a servery, and a large music room.
