The first Monday in May is set aside annually as School Bus Driver Appreciation Day. This year, Monday, May 2 has been designated as School Bus Driver Appreciation Day – an opportunity for students, parents and staff of Peace Wapiti Public School Division (PWSD) to recognize the important function that school bus drivers serve in safely transporting children to and from school.
On Monday, May 2, PWSD drivers will be invited to continental breakfast events at the Northern Bus Shop located in Spirit River and the Transportation Office at Central Office in Grande Prairie, and will also participate in prize draws. School Administrators will hand out treats to bus drivers as they arrive at schools.
PWSD manages the third largest transportation system in the province of Alberta. Each day, 104 school bus drivers travel more than 14,225 kilometres in a total service area of 16,159 square kilometres, transporting 4,000 students to 29 schools in three school districts.
Thank you to all PWSD bus drivers for your dedication, patience and commitment to safety.
