PWSD honours top academic students of past school year

PWSD's Board of Trustees honoured 15 former students for outstanding academic achievement during the 2014-2015 school year at a ceremony and luncheon at the Board meeting on February 18, 2016. Those in attendance are currently on study break from various post-secondary institutions.

Shannon Taylor (pictured), a graduate of Beaverlodge Regional High School, was named Top Student in the Division.

Awards of Excellence were presented to graduates who achieved averages above 90 per cent. Noted for this achievement were Jesse Gundersen, Faith Nayko, and Sarah Toews, graduates of Beaverlodge Regional High School; Aleesha Afridi, Maira Afridi, Alexandria Friesen, Kallum McDonald, Hannah Schmakeit and Shauna Schwindt, graduates of Peace Wapiti Academy; and Jilian Handfield and Kristina Koerson de Boer, graduates of Sexsmith Secondary School.      

Deanna Nobbs, a graduate of Savanna School; Erica Beaupre, a graduate of Spirit River Regional Academy; and Kimberly Gorgichuk, a graduate of Eaglesham School, were recognized as top students at their respective schools for the past school year.
