| Beaverlodge Elementary School | Students may dress up as their favourite character during an assembly on Wednesday, January 27th, enjoy paired reading with popcorn in the gym, and play book bingo. |
| Bonanza School | Parents, community members, family and friends are invited to celebrate Literacy Day starting at 12:30 p.m. on Thursday, January 28th, followed by a month-end assembly hosted by the Grades 5 and 6 class at 2:35 p.m. |
| Clairmont Community School | This week, the CCS school library has been transformed into Camp Read S'more – a wilderness campground filled with tents, camping chairs and bears. The campfire is lit and students will be using flashlights to read inside tents. Outside of the library, students will enjoy a daily dose of Dr. Seuss when special guests drop by each morning to read a book over the intercom. Hallways have been decorated with "rainbow words" for students to read as they walk throughout the school. Daily DEAR (Drop Everything and Read) time has been scheduled so that the whole school will be reading simultaneously. Teachers will swap classrooms to read their favourite picture book to another class, and school-wide buddy reading will be held in the gym. Students will work on a collaborative book project that will be showcased in the school library for the remainder of the school year. On Wednesday, students and staff may dress as their favourite book or character, and healthy reading snacks will be provided by the Foods class on Thursday. |
Harry Balfour School | Students are invited to bring in their old books by Tuesday, January 26th to receive coupons to exchange for new books at the school's annual book swap on Thursday, January 28th. |
| Helen E. Taylor School | The school will celebrate literacy during the week of January 25th-29th. Students will have 15 minutes of DEAR time on Monday-Thursday; intramural groups will participate in a variety of literacy activities at 2:00 p.m. – 3:25 p.m. on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday; and on Wednesday, students will visit Wembley Elementary School for shared reading, and the Principal of Helen E. Taylor will read to the WES students. |
| Robert W. Zahara Public School | The school will host their annual brown bag lunch on Wednesday, January 27th at 12:15 – 12:50 p.m. Parents, grandparents and other caregivers are welcome to visit the school during lunch hour to eat and read with their children. Families with more than one child in the school are welcome to picnic and read together in the gym. |
| Rycroft School | The school will celebrate Literacy Day on Tuesday, January 26th. Students, staff and parents are invited to dress up as their favourite character. Kindergartens will host a Teddy Bear Picnic at 1:30 p.m. – 2:00 p.m. followed by snack time. |
| Teepee Creek School | Students may bring their favourite book to school on Wednesday, January 27th and enjoy comfortable reading in their pajamas. During the afternoon, each teacher will host a 25-minute literacy station for students to rotate through, including Scrabble, word searches, reading in the dark with flashlights, and creating art projects based on selected books. |
| Woking School | Parents are invited to bring a book to read with students at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, January 27, followed by hot chocolate, snacks and board games. A prize draw will be held for students who completed reading bingo sheets at home. |
