This semester, student citizenship has been the focus of Grade 3 classes at Harry Balfour School (HBS), supported by the Classroom Champions Program which pairs an Olympic athlete-mentor with students. As a result of the program, students in Mrs. Pfefferle's Grade 3P class and Mrs. Simpson's Grade 3S class joined forces in December to organize a warm winter clothing drive for the less fortunate. A total of 1,605 items were donated, and will be distributed during Grande Prairie's Dinner for the Homeless on Friday, December 18th at The Church of Christ:
- 682 pairs of socks
- 14 pairs of long johns
- 41 scarves /neck warmers
- 359 pairs of mittens / gloves
- 509 hats
