​Peace Wapiti Academy, Peace Wapiti Public School Division's Grande Prairie-based high school, will host its annual Academy Awards event at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 8^th, 2015 in the school gymnasium.

Members of the local media are invited to attend this event.

In addition to scholarships handed out in previous years, one new bursary and two new awards will be introduced:

• Morgan Brian J. Diesel Bursary: Valued at $500 and awarded to a male student who has been a positive influence on the student community, is involved in the community and/or extracurricular activities, and exhibits leadership qualities. While the bursary is not solely based on academic standing, the student must be pursuing post-secondary education.

• Glacier Promotions Award: Valued at $100 and awarded to a student for service to the learning community.
  
  
• Harvey's Humanitarian Award: Valued at $100 and presented to a student who places others before themselves, making their school and/or community A Beautiful Thing.

A detailed list of scholarship winners will be released on Friday, October 9^th following the awards ceremony.
