On Your Mark! PWSD students benefit from free diploma exam tutorial sessions
For the seventh year in a row, On Your Mark diploma exam tutorial sessions will once again be offered free of charge to students of Peace Wapiti Public School Division (PWSD). The comprehensive six-hour tutorials will review course content while further developing strategies to tackle question formats.
"Our goal in creating this opportunity for students is to highlight and review key information, provide time for them to do sample questions with teacher assistance, and allow them to have different teachers deliver material in different ways," says Wanda Gerard, Principal at Peace Wapiti Academy.
"The rigorous review helps students feel more confident in their understanding of some concepts, and it also identifies concepts for students to focus on during their additional studying and review. As a learning community, we would like to extend our appreciation to the teachers from high schools throughout our Division who offer most of these sessions on Saturdays, and give a huge shout out to the students who participate. We would also like to thank Grande Prairie Regional College (GPRC) for volunteering the use of their venue," adds Principal Gerard.
On Your Mark sessions will be offered in Social Studies 30-1 and 30-2 on Saturday, June 6; Biology 30 and Chemistry 30 on Saturday, June 13; Science 30 on Friday, June 19; and Math 30-1 and 30-2, and Physics 30 on Saturday, June 20. There is no need to register for the sessions; PWSD students should simply show up ready to review and ask questions.
Lunch and snacks will be provided by PWSD. All sessions run from 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. Scheduling details are as follows:
