Corporate donation to cover costs of nutritional snack food for next three years
Students at Rycroft School in Peace Wapiti Public School Division will have access to free nutritious snack options, thanks to a three-year commitment by the local division of Louis Dreyfus Canada Ltd.
“We are so grateful for this local commitment to healthy living for our students. We started a ‘Snack Shack’ at Rycroft School this year. This donation, valued at $3,500 per year for the next three years, will go a long way in sustaining and improving the quality of life within our school and our community,” says Principal Casey Brown.
Students will be able to choose from a selection of ‘grab and go’ nutritious food and beverage choices consistent with the Eating Well with Canada’s Food Guide and provincial student nutrition guidelines.
“Many of our rural students experience very early mornings, followed by lengthy bus rides,” adds Principal Brown. “It’s nice to know that food will be available upon their arrival at school, in the event that breakfast was missed, or students simply weren’t ready to eat at that time of the day.”
“Louis Dreyfus Canada Ltd. is committed to healthy living, and the local branch would like to join them by supporting this effort,” says Dustin Selbach, Manager of Louis Dreyfus Canada Ltd. in Rycroft. “We want to help to ensure that the students at Rycroft School have access to healthy food options.”
Mr. Selbach will present the first installment of the funds to Rycroft School immediately following the Remembrance Day ceremony which begins at 10:45 a.m. on Thursday, November 6th in the school’s gymnasium. Members of the local media are invited to attend this event.
