June 4, 2014: For the sixth year in a row, Peace Wapiti Public School Division (PWSD) will once again offer free diploma exam tutorial sessions, open to all PWSD students.
Dubbed ‘On Your Mark,’ these comprehensive six-hour tutorial sessions will assist students as they prepare for June diploma exams. During the sessions, students will review course content and further develop strategies to tackle question formats.
“In the past, we have seen as many as 70 students take advantage of this program,” says Wanda Gerard, Principal at Peace Wapiti Academy.
“Students participating in last year’s Biology tutorial sessions were given notes packages which included diagrams, terminology, key concepts and practice questions. Teachers worked through the practice questions with the students using SMART Board interactive whiteboards. Activities were also developed for the students to help reinforce concepts,” adds Ms. Gerard.
‘On Your Mark’ sessions will run from 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. during three Saturdays on June 7, 14, and 21. Social Studies tutorials will be held at Peace Wapiti Academy. Sessions on Biology, Chemistry, Math and Physics will be hosted at Grande Prairie Regional College (GPRC). There is no need to register for the sessions; PWSD students should simply show up ready to review and ask questions.
Lunch and snacks will be provided by Peace Wapiti Public School Division. Scheduling details are as follows:
