AHS investigating case of COVID-19 at Woking School

Grande Prairie, AB – Alberta Health Services (AHS) has advised administration at Peace Wapiti Public School Division (PWPSD) of a case of COVID-19 at Woking School. The attached letter was sent by AHS to the parents/guardians of Woking School students today, Saturday, October 24, 2020. 

Out of respect for the individual, and in accordance with AHS guidelines, no further information will be shared about this case. PWPSD and Woking School wish the individual a safe and speedy recovery, and will continue to work closely with Alberta Health Services to ensure necessary measures are in place to protect all students and staff.


School closed for the upcoming week

Woking School has provided the following operational information:

  • AHS will contact all families of students who have been identified as a close contact, to provide testing and isolation instructions.

  • The plans set in place to create zones and cohorts at Woking School have worked as planned, and helped in the successful completion of contact tracing with AHS.

  • Due to the lack of availability of staff, Woking School will be closed Monday - Friday, October 26-30.

  • Remote learning opportunities will be provided to isolating students.

  • This weekend, the entire school is undergoing an additional deep cleaning in preparation for the return to classes on Monday, November 2.
