Transportation information

Bus route notifications by email:
Be the first to know about late or cancelled buses. Each school year, families should sign up for email notifications on the status of individual or multiple bus routes at http://transportation.pwpsd.ca.

Update your daytime contact information:
Near the end of August, school bus drivers contact families to share pick-up times for the upcoming year. Please provide current daytime telephone numbers to the PWPSD Transportation Office at (780) 532-7734 and your school office.

School zones in effect as of Tuesday, September 1, 2020:
Drivers should exercise caution and adhere to posted speed limits. It is illegal to pass a school bus in rural areas when red lights are flashing. In September, trained PWPSD busing representatives conduct free safety presentations at participating schools, including a safety talk and video, followed by safety drills.

Online resources:
Visit www.pwpsd.ca/services/transportation to access school boundary maps, our inclement weather policy, and more. Complete the Short Term Rider form for joint custody scenarios, or to arrange for your child to use an existing bus stop to access before/after school care.

New information for the 2020-21 school year:

  • Grade 4 to 12 students and staff must wear masks where physical distancing cannot be maintained, including on school buses.
  • Using the Short-Term Rider Form to arrange short-term changes in transportation, such as going home with a friend on another bus, will not be permitted.
  • Students with symptoms of COVID-19 may not attend school or ride the bus.

  • Buses will be equipped with sanitizer for students to use when boarding the bus.
  • Buses will be cleaned at the end of the route. A seating plan will assist with contact tracing if a student contracts COVID-19. Siblings will be seated together.
  • Field trips requiring transportation are postponed.
  • Students will unload from the front of the bus to the back.
  • Parents may opt to drive their child to reduce numbers.

How do I register my child for school?

Online registration for new students:

If your child is new to Peace Wapiti Public School Division (PWPSD), or new to the school in which you are registering, click the New Student Registration link found at http://www.pwpsd.ca/registration to register them in the upcoming 2020-2021 school year. Schools provide computer access to those who do not have Internet service (see August office reopening hours in the chart above).

Returning Student Update Form - available after September 4 using a Snap Code:

If your child is returning to the school they attended in June, or transferring from a PWPSD feeder school, you do not need to complete the online registration form. Families of returning students will be emailed a Snap Code on September 4 which will provide access to complete the Returning Student Update Form, to verify/update demographic information currently on file, such as home address, phone number and emergency contacts.
