Grande Prairie, AB – Peace Wapiti Academy (PWA) will host a drive-in outdoor graduation ceremony at Evergreen Park's Tara Centre on Thursday, June 25, beginning at 4:00 p.m. The Roaring Twenties-themed event will include a lawn sign drive-by, graduation march, virtual and in-person speeches, and a graduation video, while adhering to the current physical distancing guidelines.
Schedule of Events:
- 4:00 - 6:00 p.m.: Lawn sign drive-by and photo opportunity.
- 6:00 - 8:00 p.m.: Ceremony set-up. No access to the park during this time.
- 8:00 - 9:00 p.m.: Gates open for vehicle line-up and parking.
- 9:00 p.m.: Cap and gown graduation march.
- 10:30 p.m.: Graduation ceremony.
The event is open to ticket holders only. Graduates will receive two tickets, with a single ticket required for each vehicle admitted to the event. Those experiencing symptoms of Covid-19 must not attend the event. Vehicles will be parked two metres apart, allowing attendees to open their windows, if desired. Occupants must stay inside their vehicle unless otherwise indicated by the event organizers as part of the program, with the exception of washroom use.
Washrooms will be available on site for attendees to use, if necessary. Only one attendee at a time can leave their vehicle to use the facilities. Children aged 12 and under may be escorted by an adult.
