Robert W. Zahara (R.W.Z.) Public School is located in the town of Sexsmith. The Kindergarten - Grade 6 school serves 415 students and provides educational services to an equal mixture of rural and urban students. The school is staffed by 24 teachers and a large support team of 24 teaching assistants, librarians, administrative assistants, and speech assistants. The original R.W.Z. Public School was erected in 1978-1979. The replacement school, which opened following the 2016 spring break, is designed to accommodate 550 students and features a bright foyer and spacious classrooms with enhanced instructional features. The learning commons boasts a curved wall of floor-to-ceiling windows, creating an attractive, naturally-lit space for reading and learning activities. Other special features include an oversize gymnasium, dedicated speech therapy and occupational therapy rooms, a servery, and a large music room.

Grand Opening: Modernized Teepee Creek School
Location: 10101 - 100 Street, Teepee Creek, AB
1:30 p.m.: Ceremony and Ribbon Cutting
2:15 p.m. - 2:45 p.m.: Guided Tours

Teepee Creek School is located in the village of Teepee Creek. The Kindergarten - Grade 8 school serves 75 students and is the sole provider of educational services within the rural community. The school is staffed by six teachers and a five-member support team consisting of teaching assistants, a librarian and an administrative assistant. Teepee Creek School was erected in 1955, followed by the addition of a gymnasium, classroom and office space in 1965. To accommodate student population growth, a modular classroom was added to the facility in 1982. In 2013, the PWSD Board identified modernization of the school as the top capital priority for the 2013-2016 term. The project, announced in January, 2014, included an exterior facelift, landscaping, a new administrative office, the addition of a community kitchen and two new modular classrooms with a hallway link, and renovations to existing washrooms, gymnasium and classroom spaces. The school launched a new Junior Kindergarten program in September, 2016.
