The spirit of giving was in the air at this morning's Tools for School "stuff a bus" event, an annual initiative sponsored by United Way Alberta North West, Costco, Staples, and the three local School Boards – Peace Wapiti Public School Division (PWSD), Grande Prairie Catholic School Division (GPCSD) and Grande Prairie Public School Division (GPPSD).
Executive members from the sponsoring organizations were joined by volunteers, and through teamwork, a PWSD school bus was stuffed with donations of backpacks and school supplies in less than 30 minutes. The bus traveled to the three Board offices where the supplies were unloaded for distribution to area schools. Supplies were also delivered to the City of Grande Prairie's Community Homeless Initiative partner agencies, including the Canadian Mental Health Association (CMHA), Accredited Supportive Living Services (ASLS), Centerpoint Facilitation, YMCA of Northern Alberta, Grande Prairie Friendship Centre, Serenity Place, HIV North, and the Family Education Society.
