For the first time, families will be able to register their children at Peace Wapiti Public Schools from the comfort of their own homes.
The first phase of PWSD's new online registration process, powered by InfoSnap, will be open to new students only and will be made available to families as of March 10th to align with the start date for Kindergarten registration. This phase will also include families who wish to register new students for the upcoming 2016-2017 school year. In May, the second phase of online registration will be open to all existing PWSD students. Please note: In the past, families of current students were asked to complete a paper demographic form each year to verify their child's information, such as address, phone number and emergency contact information, In September, 2016, a new process will be in place to complete the Yearly Demographic Review online. The new online demographic form will include the data currently on file. Families will be asked to verify or correct demographic details online. Watch your school's newsletter for more details.
Families may access the online registration in one of two ways: by first clicking the Schools tab found on PWSD's website, www.pwsd76.ab.ca, followed by the Register Online link; or by first clicking the Registration tab on a PWSD school website, followed by the Register Online link.
From there, families will be asked to enter their email address and a password to create an InfoSnap account. Once the account has been created, users will be directed to the online registration form where they will enter their child's first and last names, and date of birth.
The questions that follow are very similar to the information gathered on PWSD's former paper registration form. However, advantages of the new online process include the ability to snap, or share, information from one child to the next, a time-saver for families with multiple children. The information entered on the form will be saved year over year, and can be edited in future years if any information changes, such as the student's address. Also, since the form can be customized by school, it could include blanket permission forms for field trips, further streamlining the registration process for busy families.
Registration is not deemed complete until it has been approved by PWSD's Central Registrar. Families who are unable to upload the requested scanned copy of their child's birth certificate must bring it to the school office. Other documents, such as proof of residency and custody information may be required by the school office.
PWSD school offices and Central Office will offer computer access to families who do not have a home computer or electronic device, or Internet service. Users who require help while completing the online registration process may contact the InfoSnap support line toll-free at 1-866-752-6850.
