Staff and students are safe and accounted for, and are following the prescribed evacuation procedure, as outlined below. The gas company and emergency services are currently checking the school. An update will be posted when the situation has been resolved. What is an evacuation? - A response to a possible danger INSIDE the school.
- Staff will escort students to a safe area, away from the school.
- If necessary, students will be transported to the school's predetermined safe location.

On a day when buses are cancelled due to inclement weather, students are exempt from writing the scheduled Diploma Exam, and their final mark will be based on course work. Tuesday, December 17, 2019, 9:45 a.m.: Evacuation due to fire alarm at Bezanson School. Students and staff at Bezanson School have evacuated to the nearby Bezanson Hall, due to a fire alarm sounding at the school. All students and staff are safe. There were no signs of smoke when staff did a walk-through of the school building. The local fire department was called to the school. Updated information will be released as it becomes available. | | Information | | Monday, November 25, 2019, 1:15 p.m.: Students and staff at Whispering Ridge Community School briefly evacuated to the school's muster area after a false fire alarm, believed to have been triggered by a water flow issue with the sprinkler system. The service provider is working to resolve the issue. Students and staff have since returned to the building and have resumed normal activities.

| | Warning | | Police activity in the area of Harry Balfour School Grande Prairie, AB – Monday, November 25, 2019, 9:00 a.m..: There is a heavy police presence patrolling in the area of Harry Balfour School. School staff are taking extra precautions and have placed the school under Hold and Secure to ensure student safety while officials conduct their work. What is a Hold and Secure? - A response to an unrelated threat and/or incident in close proximity to the school, taking place OUTSIDE the school.
- School life continues as normal inside the school, however, the precautionary measure to lock school doors is taken to ensure staff and students are safe, and to reduce activity while officials conduct their work.
- Access to and from the school is restricted and carefully monitored. The Hold and Secure is lifted when emergency personnel advise that the situation has ended.
- Examples: Nearby police activity, a threatening animal.
